Each one of the 7 art pieces in Muher i bida moderna illustrate a chapter of a book written in 1934 by Medardo de Marchena. Medardo de Marchena lived in Otrobanda in Curaçao. All 7 illustrations are situated in Otrobanda. The art is not for sale. I made the art to pay attention to the injustice that De Marchena underwent. My aim is rehabilitation and spreading knowledge.

These works are about death, life and hope. The oil refinery Isla lies in the center of Willemstad on Curacao. Next to it are 5000 Jewish graves that date back to 1659. Isla pollutes living areas. Death is around the corner. At the same time Isla provides work and welfare.

Revolt of the Periplaneta americana (American cockroach). The cockroach hides in cracks and comes alive at night. It scares people to death. We despise the cockroach and try our utmost to exterminate it. Yet it has survived for more than 300 million years.
